Bechstein Upright Piano For Sale.                   DECEMBER 2007

BECHSTEIN UPRIGHT PIANO : Serial Number 99253 : Circa 1914 : Private Sale Perth, WA.
WANT TO BUY A NICE, PRIVATELY OWNED, USED PIANO ?

The Piano Advisory has again been asked to feature and assist in the sale of a most desirable upright piano -
this one designed and constructed by famous maker C. Bechstein of Berlin, Germany -
in a decade when many piano businesses stopped production with the advent of World War 1.

Serial number indicates that this instrument was made sometime after 1910
(European piano production would cease during the "Great War" - 1914 to 1918 period -
piano factories often being converted to munitions plants)

Whilst this instrument has the popular "full iron frame", piano designers in the 1920's began utilising an enclosed pin block - rather than the exposed block seen here.
One advantage with the earlier configuration, is that the condition of the tuning system is more readily apparent - a close inspection of the timber plank (it holds the tuning pins) will reveal any potential or existing weakness in the tuning system, by disclosing any hairline cracks or fractures visible on the wrest plank's surface;
Something which cannot be seen in modern day pianos, where the pin block is fully hidden behind today's metal plate or steel frame.

Recently overhauled at the owner's expense ($5000), this piano has been expertly restored - as can be seen in the photos supplied by the Western Australian family, now downsizing and who have decided to part with the piano.

Seldom played since its reworking, the piano upholds the original Bechstein standard, producing the glorious tones found in these more prestigious makes - and this one will truly satisfy the discerning player.
For private sale in Perth WA, the owner seeks expressions of interest from serious musicians, is prepared to negotiate a sale at $6950 or near offer.

Western Australia is a long way from Melbourne ...
I have not seen the piano,
so I can only provide information based on what I am told by its present owner.

Suffice it to say that [1] there is a genuine desire to sell the instrument.
[2] It's a magnificent looking piano ...and...
[3] It's a BECHSTEIN !!!
The piano was recently tuned, 'everything works' and it's in unmarked condition.

Joan is asking just $6950 for this piano complete with matching stool. Both are in a rich Mahogany Timber finish.
(look in the shops - you might find a Bechstein at twice this price ?)

Owner is keen to sell and will consider "reasonable offers".
