WANT A REALLY NICE, USED PIANO ?
A New Bechstein piano - Cheap ? Sorry... They can be $25000 * and more !
Is this a better than new Bechstein ???
OzPianoman says : Here at
WE DON"T SELL PIANOS...
But I am pleased to feature quality instruments and assist in their marketing - thereby creating for those seeking to acquire superior pieces from their owners, a rare opportunity to purchase.
This upright piano was designed and constructed by famous maker C. Bechstein of Berlin, Germany ... in a decade when many piano businesses stopped production during World War 1.
Serial number indicates only that this instrument was made sometime between 1910 & 1919 (Presumably, most European piano production would have ceased in those "Great War" years - many piano factories being converted to munitions plants)
Whilst this instrument has the all important, "full iron frame", piano designs of the 1920's more often utilised an enclosed pin block - rather than the exposed block seen here in pic 2 of the photos published at:

An advantage with the earlier configuration however, is that the condition of the tuning system is more readily apparent. A close inspection of the timber wrest plank (it holds the tuning pins) can reveal any potential or existing weaknesses in the tuning system, in the form of hairline cracks or fractures visible on the plank's surface; Something which cannot be seen in modern pianos, where the pin block is fully hidden behind today's metal plate or steel frame.
Recently overhauled at the owner's expense ($5000 spent), this piano has been expertly restored - as can be seen in the photos supplied by its Western Australian owner, now downsizing and who has decided to part with the instrument.
Seldom played since its reworking, this elegant piano upholds the original Bechstein standard, producing the glorious tones found in these more prestigious makes - and this one will truly satisfy the discerning player.
For private sale in Perth WA, expressions of interest are invited from serious musicians, the owner prepared to negotiate a sale at $6950 or near offer.
I know Bechstein pianos...
But I'm in Melbourne - and I haven't seen this one!
So I can only provide information based on what I am told by its present owner.
Suffice it to say that
[1] there is a genuine desire to sell the instrument.
[2] It's a magnificent looking piano ...AND...
[3] It's a BECHSTEIN !!!
The piano was recently tuned, everything 'works' and it's in unmarked condition.
Joan is asking just $6950 for this piano complete with matching stool - both in rich Mahogany timberfinish.
(look in the shops - you might find a similar Bechstein at twice this price ?)
Owner is keen to sell and will consider "reasonable offers".
* Prices quoted are Australian dollars (aud)
