It seems there's now an ABUNDANCE of "Piano Teachers"...
They're Everywhere! Some in 'Music Schools', others associated with Piano Shops; Some offering tuition at your child's school & helping to provide that added 'convenience factor' for parents.
We're certainly a motley lot. We come in all shapes'n'sizes;
Some of us will even come to you!
Now then, despite my disdain, clearly there are some really good Pianists who teach piano!
And yet one can't help wondering ...
Where did all the 'Teachers' suddenly spring from?
Fact is, having "sprung" from nowhere special, many set up a nice little P/T business, deriving a comfortable income, from a lot less than excellence in performance.
And that - dear reader, puts You at risk!
Who taught Them? What's their Performance history?
How many ever played publicly and were PAID for their ability?
Whom among them ever actually 'entertained' anybody outside their own family?
And ... How Come they're Teaching?
You'll find very few who ever played just for pleasure;
Nor do they now!

QUALIFICATIONS??? Say Wha?... Oh, you mean "ACCREDITATION"!
OK... So they'll have studied, done their exams, got some grades.
Weird how people can just take for granted that these characters are Musically competent.
Is that how you'd choose a Golf Pro ? Your Tennis Coach ??
You buy music albums or CDs on the basis of Exam Results ???
Shouldn't you choose a Music teacher whom you've seen perform?
And because you were impressed? Surely not simply because "somebody you know goes to them"?
Because they 'DO EXAMS'? Because they're 'Qualified'? You heard that they are 'Nice'?
You're "only A Beginner" & they're supposed to be "pretty good."???
GOOD ? You dont want ..."GOOD". You want CREATIVE !!!
Someone with FLAIR - with PERSONALITY - a MUSICIAN who inspires ...
One capable of encouraging & developing a learner's enthusiasm so they might become an Inventive, Exciting and Versatile player!
So... be selective !
